Ironworkers Local Union 808 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee
is a four (4) year training program designed to produce skilled mechanics
in numbers which will adequately supply the industry's needs.Ironworkers Local Union 808 Joint Apprenticeship program is accredited by
Orange County Public School System and the State of Florida Bureau of Job Training.The apprenticeship courses cover all phases of structural steel.
Apprentices receive on the job and class related training.
1st Year 2nd Year 3rd Year 4th Year Reinforcing,
Post Tensioning & Basic SkillsStructural Steel & Precast / Construction Math Blueprints, Instruments & Layout Welding, Burning
&
Plasma CuttingTrade Safety & O.S.H.A. Rigging Ornamental & Architectural Advanced Weld Symbols & Applications
Cost: There is no cost for tuition.
Books must be purchased according to what class you are taking.
The cost varies in prices from $14.00 - $35.00.You must furnish your own personal tools as needed.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
High School diploma / GED
Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
Driver License (Picture I.D.)
Physically able to do the work
Two letters of recommendations from previous employers
Pass a drug test
Be willing to attend class two nights per week

Apprentices will be required to attend school at the union hall two (2) nights a week:
Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.There is a 1000 hour probationary period
Credit may be given for related experience.
There will be an increase in wages of 5% every 1000 Hours
Effective December 26, 2010:
% WAGES + FRINGES = TOTAL PACKAGE 1st Year 60% $12.18 + $4.11 = $16.29 65% $13.20 + $4.11 = $17.31 2nd Year 70% $14.21 + $4.11 = $18.32 75% $15.23 + $4.11 = $19.34 3rd Year 80% $16.24 + $4.11 = $20.35 85% $17.26 + $4.11 = $21.37 4thYear 90% $18.27 + $8.76 = $27.03 95% $19.29 + $8.76 = $28.05 The Employer pays $4.11 for every hour you work for the Health and Welfare Plan.
Once you have worked for a total of 750 hours your insurance will go into effect for the beginning of each quarter.
